Xenon light source?

Hi,

I've just wonder, anyone have tried to use a Xenon as a light source?

I was browsing the web and found the NEC Nighthawk SX6000D Projector Specifications at

projectorcentral.com/NEC-Nighthawk_SX600D.htm

that cost about $50,000 and uses "Lamp: Type:1000W Xenon"

Then, it is possible to use a Xenon kit from a car with a 4000k temperature light as a light source for a DIY Projector?

the car one's are roughly 800 to 1500 lumens. Far short of what you want. Metal Halide 400w are like 33,000 lumens.

Anyone have experience with using xenon headlight kits in a retrofit of existing projectors. I have a Toshiba T1 that needs a new lamp and this looks to be an alternative to $450.00 for a new lamp. The existing 270w lamp is rated at 1300 ansi(lumes)
