Hi I'm new to the audio game and I think I am in dire needs of assistance. My problem is I have a Sony Xplod 1200 watt amp (yes I know not the best) and 2-10" JL subs, my problem is I don't really know how to properly wire them, I want to bridge the amp but that only gives me 1 channel and when I did it got super hot so I put it back to stereo, but I really like the mono sound, is it possible to do it mono and how, please help
Basicaly what I am asking is do I need to wire my subs to create a 4 ohm, 8 ohm or a 2 ohm load. My amp is bridgeable and I don't know if it's the ohm's that is overheating my amp
Assuming that your woofers are 4 ohms, wiring them in parallel makes 2 ohms. When using these with bridged amps, the amp sees 1 ohm. Not good.
Your best bet is to accept the stereo bass, forget bridging and wire one woofer to each channel.

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll just leave it stereo, I listen to heavy rock so it still sounds pretty decent, would upgrading to 12" make any difference?
