Everyone, I have noticed that Sony is now making a wide screen LCD computer monitor they call it a 17.1" and has 1280x768 resolution. Does anyone know if Sony makes the LCD panel or of other OEM manufacturers who make wide screen or 16:9 LCD panels. Any sizes would be welcome.

There are a bunch, but they are all pretty big. Apple (don't know the OEM) makes a VERY nice one. I played around with it at Fry's. Silicon Graphics has had a large widescreen monitor for a while now (can be seen in some movies). There is an OEM Sharp out there that is the 2100 x whatever (it's 16x9). That' probably what's in the Apple and SG monitors. Sony has several, didn't know they had one as small as 17" though.

Thanks for your response. I have pretty much given up on the idea that I will find a smaller size high rez panel. So I am interested in the bigger sizes. I just saw the Sony unit at Circuit City so I think it is a new design. I am going to check out Sharps 16:9 right now.
