I can't seem to find a 2k cermet pot used in the leach amp. I suppose this is only for quality. Will a normal cheap pot do the job as well?
Also I can't find stacked metal film capacitors. I will be using polyester capacitors instead. Comments will be appreaciated

Sez you...........
"A condutive plastic pot would be much better that a cermet one." - JW
Unless you care what it sounds like........ the cermets sound noticably better. I replaced my ALPS 100K Black Beauty with linear cermets with Caddock resistors from wiper to ground for a law faking taper. There's no comparison. The Alps sounds colored, soft, rolled off, and doesn't have the detail ....... and they cost a bunch. It is complementary to slightly hard and bright electronics. The TKDs are the best conductive plastic ones I have heard but have a different "log" taper and aren't cheap either.

Fred,
If cermet pot might be ok as a trimpot in a bias circuit. You should run a HF square wave through one and tell what you don't see.
How the head.🙂

Till,
You win, that is the strangest looking pot I have ever seen and it's power with a car battery. Does it run in class A.

Re: Stacked caps
Both Panasoninc (type V) and Epcos make stacked polyester caps, B3252X.
Epcos also makes stacked polypropolene caps. B32620/1
All the above radial caps are available from Digikey.com in the States. Outside of N.A. I'm unsure, but assume the Epcos are readily available in Europe.

Hi,
Sure...Epcos is a Siemens spin off after all.
EPCOS DEUTSCHLAND
MKP/MFP CAPS
Cheers,😉

If the pot is being used to adjust the bias, Im not sure the signal passed through it anyway. I this is the case, the "sound" is notparticularly inportant but the stability (wrto age, temperature, etc). Also if it's small trim pot, some have a limited number of end-to-end rotations (or so the datasheets say) so there is only so much fiddling with the bias you can do before possible mechanical failure. I don't know if cermet, plasic or whatever suits this use best but perhaps another poster has some info on that.

- why a cermet pot?
