I have bought 3 lcd pannels. 1 for the pc, one i broke, a project pannel.
My pannel with better specs is a nec multisync lcd1560m,
The other is a Gateway fpd1530.
Has anyone stripped either of these?
Witch one is easier?
Will i need extension cables?
The nec is a better pannel but the gateway backlight is a little weak.
Price you pay for used stuff. Im leaning tward the nec for it has dvi and regular vga plus better contrast ratio. 450-1 Just concearned about this foil ive read about and if my backlight goes im screwed. I have also seen several posts that the nec strips easy and has a single cable, but does not say if it required to lengthen it. I have not seen anything on the gateway.
My other broken one is a veiwsonic vp151 that i tore the main big flat ribbon cable on. That thing was brittle. Any ideas for a replacement cable? This is a crappy monitor but it would be nice to fix it. It is the easiest thing i have ever seen to strip! This was my first cheap buy and was going to use it.
Thanks for the insight!

I bought a fpd1530 to strip but I haven't received it yet. The price was right so I rolled the dice. The NEC panel does have slightly better specs but they are really not too different. I know that older NEC models strip rather easily but I haven't read a report by anyone who has tried a 1560 (or a 1550 for that matter).
I would probably attempt stripping the gateway because of the backlight. But I won't have any really solid info for you on how easy or difficult that will be for another week or so.
