Hi,
I'm interested to build one of this but I'm not really into wood work 😱 I saw two sites, DIYProjectorCompany and LumenLab. They seem to offer decent kit...
Here's my setup requirement;
1. HD resolution. 720p is fine but preferred 1080p, so I guess I have to use at least 15"-17"
2. The projected screen size is 120"-150"
3. Room has some little ambient light
4. Throw range (max) is around 10-12 feet
5. Open suggestion for screen material (some grey one is good?)
6. $500-$700 budget, including LCD 🙂 (I ALMOST purchase the panny AE900, but I found this forum 😀 )
Open for suggestion for any site, not restrict to these two. Please don't turn this thread to be LL vs DIYPC thread (I saw some heat when I searched and read some old threads). I'm looking more on recommendation about which model that they offer would best fit my need. I believe both should has good products.
Any comment is appreciated 🙂

15.4" WUXGA LCD +controller
I think 15.4" WUXGA LCD +Controller might be the best thing you can get if you really want 1080P. If 720P is ok for you, 12.1" (1280*800) will be a good choice with smaller box and low budget.
For the 720P, $4?? is enough for whole sets even with a beautiful steel box.
For the 1080P sets, it's a little bit higher but acceptable.

Lumenlab offers great products for great prices, DIYPC also has some great products but I've heard their shipping time is really bad. I have had nothing but awesome experiences with Lumenlab and I whole-heartedly recommend them.
In my opinion the first viable step would be to register for the premium forums at lumenlab (small $10 fee, though more then worth it). The protected forums have a TON of information on different designs to fit every need. You could definitely build a nice 720p projector for $700 or less.
Take a peek around the forums, look through some of the sticky threads, believe me, you'll find all the info you could ever need. Best of luck on your projector build! 🙂
as far as im concerned lumen lab isnt worth the 10$ fee..... they dont have or know anything that cant be found with a little looking on google and a few other sites... also i have not bought anything from DIYPC yet but i have emailed allan directly (the owner) many times concerning designs and recomendations on OHP panels ... he has responded fast and has been a huge help even tho im not even a customer yet...since i havent orderd anything from him yet i cant comment on the shipping time but i havent heard anything about it being slow also he is only one guying doing everything so if shipping is a lil slow then i understand and its a fine tradeoff for excellent service even if he was slow on shipping.
