Hi,
I am a new member with what I think may be a common problem encountered when trying to fix audio equipment and am looking for suggested suppliers.
I am trying to fix a "burned up", high power sub-woofer amplifier that my son bought for me to fix for him. No problem for the power devices (IRFP064N). But the drivers are KEC B631K(Y) and D600K(Y). Since getting the KEC parts in small quantities is probably impossible, I started looking for Sanyo 2SB631K and 2SD600K. The only place I could find them at was tenfourltd.com but there is a 50 piece minimum purchase.
What is a good source for small quantities of discrete semi parts from Sanyo, KEC, or other far-east semi manufacturers?
Thanks,

try Consolidated. I have had had good luck with them.

It looks like they have the Sanyo parts in stock.

Do a search for KTB631K and KTD600K.
(you can use either Y or GR grade if the originals are Y)
Try here as well:
B & D Enterprises
If you ask, they will check for the grade that they have in stock. They carry Sanyo and I used them in repairing my Adcom amp.
$15 min.

that's good to know. It's a crap shoot with Consolidated but then I never asked.
I am a little bit surprised that there is not one or two "name brand" distributors (like a Digi-Key or Mouser) that everyone uses for Sanyo, KEC, or other far-east parts.
I really am not familiar with either Ceitron or B & D Enterprises and want to make sure that I get "good" parts (no counterfits, "pulls",..). I guess you just have to go on the recommendation of others but again, I am really surprised that these types of far-east parts are not more readily available considering their overwhelming use in consumer type electronics. Maybe that's why the local community college dropped their Electronics Technology program, people don't get their stuff fixed anymore if it is not under warranty, they just throw it away.
jacco vermeulen - I do appreciate your input (especially about the grading issue), but doing a search on these part numbers only gets you a bunch of links to data sheet providers and perhaps a few parts brokers.

Everlast,
MCM Electronics also carries Sanyo. MCM is part of Newark and they had a very good rep when I was a parts purchaser.
I got Sanyo's from both sources and I couldn't tell a difference. Plus, my Adcom amp sounds much better after I replaced several transistors sourced from both companies.

Thank you very much for the information.
I ended up ordering my parts from B & D Enterprises.
I spoke to "Bud" at B & D Enterprises and ended up finding out that B & D Enterprises is a part of tenfourltd.com (a Sanyo distributor). B & D Enterprises is geared for smaller orders while tenfourltd services the OEM market.
"Bud" said that if I noted it in the order comments section, that they would make sure that they would verify the "grade" I was looking for.

Ok, that's why everything I ordered from them looked so good!😀
That is really good info to know. I replaced the majority of the transistors on my right channel (I goofed and blew out 2 of them) on my Adcom 535 and it sounds much better now.
I've already plans to buy more from them so I can restore the left channel. Funky hearing great sounds out of the right and no so good from center to left. At least I know I have genuine parts inside.

How much do you like?
1 or 10 or 30. I don't mind.
