what way would you do a crude mono boombox with an 8 inch Sammi fullrange?

FWIW I figure 3/4 cubic foot would be enough volume - dunno if 9mm BB with a few braces would be stiff enough or not.

for helper tweeter I've an ST200 or maybe the old slot ST324

could RJ vent it

Looks interesting.

If it was mine, I'd consider making the 8" up-firing, and adding a B&O-style reflector to spread the high frequencies into the horizontal plane, rather than sending them up in a laserbeam.

9mm BB ply with some bracing will be just fine, and will likely stand up to the rigours of portable speaker use.

Thinking of making a boombox, too - got lots of drivers around.

the oval diffraction lens would help (in places) Lafayette Radio's "Eliptoflex" enclosure had an elliptical opening which did not intercept the cone.

It definitely would be cool to try a Sausalito lens - for a tiny driver 3FE33/25 might energize well

?? JBL's lens might do better than an oval ??

I miss being able to purchase the old Selenium slot tweeters - the phenolic diaphragm plus wide horizontal dispersion made them very
pleasant to my o;d ears - especially compared some Audax and Polydax titanium bullet tweeters which measured nice
but did not sound quite right.
