In Dean Martin's song "The Triche Trache", Dean refers to a musical instrument called a "Triche Trache". What is it?

It actually seems to be some sort of Italian table game, references are rather obscure and ancient, also referred to as tric trac. Apparently it was popular centuries ago and seems to somewhat similar to checkers. It may have been a Roman game.
Most of the references I found were Italian writings from the 16th - 17th century and some 19th century French references. They are quite vague.
I actually have no idea. Best shot at Google.

I am surprised it took 9 years for someone to respond to the question. It did come up on Google at the very top of search.. LOL Talk about necrothreads, the joy of a forum where nothing ever expires.

If you listen to the song you will see that the noisemaker is what the song refers to. The main character of the song being able to play a table game in addition to other musical instruments just makes no sense.
I wasn't able to find any references to a musical instrument of that name. I agree in that context it makes no sense, I wonder what the story is. I suppose we'll never know..
