Wharfedale Rosedale speakers

I am currently restoring (reconing with kevlar plus new voice coil midrange drivers) a pair of Wharfedale Rosedale speakers (15" 3-way) we have had in the family since new in 1970. These were the "top of the range" speakers from Wharfedale at the time. The original system was a JVC receiver (now long gone) and also a Dual 1219 turntable with a Shure M75? cartridge (turntable now restored and running a new Ortofon cartridge).

I am surprised how good they are sounding (even with the aural "hole in the middle") when fed with DVD/CD material and good electronics. As part of my bedroom home theatrette The Fellowship of the Rings opening battle scene is quite scary! The big 15" woofer is surprisingly fast. The real (and carved) walnut veneer on the enclosures has even got them the approval of my wife (I think).

I am interested in hearing from anyone who has any experience of these magnificent speakers. I would also like to get scans etc of any advertising material, specs, old price lists etc about them.

The firm doing the restoring of the midrange drivers - I love this name - is "Total Recoil". Any other interesting audio shop names out there anyone wants to share?

Cheers, Paul (new member from Warrandyte, Australia)
