Thanks , The 205a checks out ,but the 203A is a much larger tube than the VT1'S .They are about the same size as a brass based WD12 . I was told that they are WW1 vintage .

Sorry, my records do only point for VT1 on 203A. The VT code was a code for USA military tubes, not necessary build by WE.
If it is possible to read VT7 instead of VT1, then it might be WX12.

Yes, Mark, it is a UV-based tube. There is a CD-ROM from France listing a VT1 from 1916:

On a Japanese Webpage I found the same tube like yours but also with the wrong referrer to 203A:
