Hi!
My name is Javier from Spain and I am new...hello everybody!!! 🙂
Recently, I bought a Thorens TD 160 mkii and I am soooooooo happy with it!!!
The problem is that the motor shaft is bent and the speed is not continous.
Should I change the motor? 🙄
Where can I get one?
Please, somebody help me!!!
In Spain we work at 240v...so I don't know if the motor should be at 50hz or 60hz.
Please, Help me...I have no idea of how to fix this.
It's a bummer my Thorens is not working properly.
All the best.
Cheers

The motor should be 50 Hz. I'm pretty sure i have a 60 Hz motor, but unlrss you are going tobuild a dedicated speed controller to feed it, it won't be much help for you.

Thank you for the offer, planet10
I have no idea of electronics so I'm completely lost in this.
If anybody knows where to get one, please, let me know.
Cheers

I have the same turntable, great machine. Try to find a replacement 230V 50Hz motor on eBay. I used to check the German site, shipping is cheaper. Since you can't lose anything, you can try to straighten the shaft, but don't expect any success. I would push on it a tight fit steel tube, and bend until it does not wiggle. But this machine rather deserves a mint condition motor.
Try to disassemble the motor and take the shaft to a machinery workshop where they can precisely adjust the runout. But do not apply ANY force to the shaft still in place in the motor because you will damage the bearings.
thank you, Willi Studer.
I think you can not take the shaft out of the motor...at least not in mine.
I found this on ebay...
Thorens Td 150 Turntable Motor | eBay
...I asked the seller if this motor is 50 or 60Hz but still no answer.
As the seller is from the UK, could I use it here in Spain?...knowing that we have 240v.
Thank youuuuuu

50 or 60 Hz, the motor is the same I think.
The pulley make the difference.
Anyway, if you can open the motor you can swap the rotors.
