This is one of VPI's best ever platter and bearing assemblies and is highly prized. It would be perfect for someone who wants to upgrade an older VPI turntable or build a new turntable from scratch. VPI can help upgrade an older table for you if needed.
The 11.5" VPI TNT Mk5 Platter is a combination of 50% Delrin and 50% non-magnetic stainless steel and weighs in at a hefty 22lbs. The VPI TNT Mk5 non-inverted Bearing and Spindle was a rare limited release bearing. Unlike the rest of the TNT bearings, the Mk5 bearing is made out of non-magnetic stainless steel (not aluminum) and is attached to the plinth via a large stainless steel threaded donut. It is heavy, weighing in at close to 3 lbs.
I'd rate it between an 8-9 considering age. The platter is clean. There are some very light scuffs on the spindle bearing which can be polished out if you're obsessive about it, but the ball has no visible wear I can see. I bought a new TT and never used this set. I was intending to upgrade an older VPI turntable and bought this in May of 2016 for $1K from someone who was the original owner, but had stored it away after some use.
This will be shipped in 2 separate packages, one for the bearing and the other in the original packing the platter came in. I'll estimate weight at 30 lbs. (including the packing) to your destination.
ASKING: $675 Will accept MO, or PayPal fee (will be paid by buyer).
