My JBL av/reciver JSR 635 has a bit of a problem. The volume keeps fluxuating, louder, quiter, louder, quiter etc. Was wondering if this is a major problem or if it can be fixed quite easily? Just bought it from a friend so no warranty or the like. Dont know weather to get my money back or to get it seen to -Is it a common fault? Easily/cheaply repaired?
Any suggestions, or advice would be great.
Thanks for your time, great forum by the way.

These things sell for about $10 - $20 in the US. I wouldn't think it would be worth the trouble.
The volume control likely is just a pulse generator of sorts for a digital control. Still, they can get dirty. Perhaps it can de cleaned? I dunno...

??? The whole amplifier sells for around $10-$20??? Or just the volume control sells for that much?
If its cheap and easy enough to fix ill get it done.

I've seen these amps sell on eBay in the US for less than $25. They are getting a bit long in the tooth, and only support Dolby Pro Logic, and none of the newer Dolby digital formats.
Dirt is the likely culprit, but I have no idea about what it uses for a volume pot (maybe a motorized control...??) so I can't recommend a way to clean it.

Nice one Echo - think its going bac to where it came from tho. Not sure its worth my effort to pay to fix it.
Sorry to bump this back up but i just want to see if anyone has any other experience of this before i decide what to do with it.
