volume pot replacement

I removed a crappy balance pot, in the attached schematic.
Now i want to replace the crappy volume pot. Which value is appropiate now the balance pot is gone.

I will remove also the 220K resistor and use a 100K Log pot... 😉

Just my thought.
Any speculation why those 220k are there in the first place. Somekind of input protection?
