Hello,
I would like to build cabinets for home use and use Magnat LS 162 car door speakers (16cm).
As usual, car speakers don`t come with T/S so all I can do is build something close to what it should be.
So I would like to know if anyone have some information of car doors volumes, or if anyone did such a build before with good resoults and can recommend me the volume for the boxes?
I know that I shouldn`t use car speakers for Hi-fi, but I have them laying around and they do sound realy good.
I know that I can forget about ported boxes without T/S, it woulnd`t be the first time I would regret building ported by eye.
Thank you for your help.

A car door is a very leaky box, so the size of your box isn't going to be that critical so long as it's large or leaky (aperiodic), they'd work well in an open baffle too

ok, thank you for help
I had good results using a box without a rear panel, had cloth over the back. Could vary the density of the cloth to adjust the action. Worked alright with fairly low power.
The last time I used (cheap) car speakers I made a closed square baffle "tube" with variable "backside" to determine the "best volume".
In the end I settled for a "too small" box with a 60...70 hz peak for kick/spl reasons.
9...9.1 ltr/driver just sounded the best overall despite the peak.
Interestingly 1-2mm movement of the backside would change the sound "dramatically" as in fr and precision and there is just one "sweet spot".
