Hi All,
Just wondering if the VN10KM fet would be usable for a single ended common source class a input stage similar to a BOZ preamp stage? I was thinking of biasing it at 10mA or so, which for my application will dissipate about 0.25W.
You can see a datasheet here:

It has a gate-source zener built in and drain-source reverse diode protection and I'm not sure how this would affect things?
The gate protection would be useful in this application. I assume the drain-source diode would be a non issue as the fet shouldn't see any reverse polarity in this application. Any thoughts? I haven't seen it used in audio anywhere. Any reason why not?
Thanks,
Greg.

I seem to recall this device being used in 1~2 watt QRP transmitters for 80m, so I think it's quite hot, you might want to be careful about HF oscillation.
