Hi,
Did someone already tested the cheap 20 euros Full Range Visaton WS 17 E in 8 ohms version ?
WS 17 E - 8 Ohm

Suitable for a horn with high horizontal expansion ? Highs too short ?

Eldam,
The driver is a midbass, and not a full range speaker.
High Q, which would make it more practical in OB or IB/sealed.
From the little I know high Q makes things more difficult in a horn.
If you type "Grande orgue, visaton" into Google, then you'll see a good application of the budget WS series woofers (I think the WS25 in this case)

Ok, thank you. I had good hope it was able to play 100 to a 8000 Hz... at least in axis -seing the constructor curve...which are always too much optimist and dificult to read (scale) with Visaton !
It looks like it has an extended response I grant you, but I'm not sure 8k would sound nice - it looks like it measures fairly well to that point.
Have a look at the 8k polars for the W17E.
I wouldn't say the Visaton graphs are optimistic and certainly no more optimistic than any other manufacturer out there.
But the image may be small and difficult to read.
If you use Boxsim, then you can simulate a test box alignment, and see the response both on axis and off axis that the simulator calculates. This may help you to decide if the driver suits your intentions.

i built visaton clou box with these. its 2.5way speaker. awesome bass for music. goes pretty deep and engaging. if i recall correctly, xover point is ~3khz. but these go flat above 5khz too.
