hello!
I have a vintage stereo console that I completely gutted of the old electronics, installed a Sonos Connect Amp with a turntable and a liquor cabinet and bar. Now I need speakers.
You can see the cutouts here:

My question is, what speaker system would be best for this? The unit is thick wood. My Sonos Amp handles wired speakers in addition to wireless. The Amp is rated for 55 watts 8 ohms.
Thanks everyone!

Is it just an open space that you can put speakers in or do you want to load the space with drivers? Pix would help.
Your picture not found. Can you attach it via the paperclip symbol in the 'Go Advanced' reply box?
Great! Now answer djn's question. It's a common fix to simply put a small speaker cabinet, with known characteristics, into the space in your photograph.
Is that an 8" cutout in the front baffle? You could do a WWW (Wideband with woofer) with the TC9 or better for not a lot of money. The big problem is the low position of the mid/high driver.

Thanks. Thought of that before, but does not really solve the problem for me. I'm looking for speakers that will fit. The backs are open, but I can close it in if need be.

Thanks! Woofer cutout is a little over 6.5"

Open space enclosed on 3 sides where the old speakers used to be. See link for full pics and measurements:

what was wrong with the original speakers? if there's no damage they may just be fine after all this is being driven by a Sonos,no?
Thanks for the pics. There's so much that could fit in there!
The pitch circle diameter (PCD) of the mounting bolts may be relevant, or perhaps you will just cut the bolts flush with the rear of the baffle board?
Do you still have the original loudspeaker drivers? It may help the discussion if you showed/measured them.

Thanks and good to know! I can cut the mounting bolts if needed. Not an issue. I do still have the original speakers, so I will grab pictures of them and post for you later.
i'd be interested in the brand name, some of those old consoles had decent drivers!
if the drivers where dismissed as bad just cause they're old...it explains why most dismiss me...i'm old!

Thank you. I will look and see if I can find a brand name, etc. I'm currently using one side of the console's speaker system (left side). The paper on the woofer was broken on the other side (right side) so I removed it. I could have it re-coned I guess.
and a 6.5 inch cutout would be for an 8 inch driver (drivers are spec'ed by frame size not cone)
what's the diagonal distance between mount bolts?

Thanks! I am not sure. I can measure this evening ad let you know. I can always cut them out and screw the speakers directly to the front cabinet wall.
for now until you find something that fits, why not try your hand at repairing the old driver?
and if you mess it up no loss!
rice or wrapping/stuffing paper (the kind you find in a gift bag) and careful application of PVA glue can work wonders!
can you upload a pic of the damaged driver?(and please don't use dropbox there's to many threads around that have become useless when pictures vanish into the digital ether!)

It might be easier to remove that baffle and keep the grill cloth and put a pair of book shelve speakers in the cavity.

That's a great idea. I will upload a pic of the driver this eve.
