Used loudspeaker pair, with the same drivers as the Classic Dynaco A-25, with the reference numbers for the 10” SEAS 25TV-EW of #671 and #1071, and for the 1.1/2” dome SEAS 87H of #2 - 2271 and #4 – 2271, what might suggest to me that they are from 1971. They are all 8 Ω.
This loudspeaker is a replica in what concerns the drivers and the xover type. So, if it was a copy or kit similar to the original or a different production type speaker, maybe for South Africa, the question remains. From here on, the differences are as follow. The box dimensions are different from the Classic Dynaco A-25 with external dimensions W x H x P of 34.4 x 61 x 29.3 (cm), internal 31 x 57.6 x 25 (cm) and thickness +/- 1.7 (cm). Resistors similar to the old green ceramics classics in one speaker and plastic brown (new/repair) in another, are all 5W. The “variovent” is a most unusual circular vent, with diameter 8.9 (cm) filled with fiberglass. The crossover is of a fixed value type as in the schematic included. The internal cables are brown and the caps are whites “Wicon” (25V peak). The back binding posts, usually red and black, are just a simple screw type plate. The screws used on the speaker drivers are small sized and of a different Slot type, not Phillips. The woofers are screwed and glued, but the black sticky gunk is almost dry. Grilles are weak in comparison to the quality of the factory manufactured originals and the wood veneer is also not in great shape. No traces of the manufacturer “dynaco” logo anywhere... is it a friend or foe?
