Looking for a pair to match with a koda 6 for an install in a car. I know this isn't a car audio forum, but I figured you guys would be able to help. I'm worried about the off axis response of this tweeter. This seems to be a tweeter that you will want to listen to on axis. Would this make it a bad canidate for car use as usually it is hard to mount a tweeter on axis in a car enviroment. Or for those of you that have used this tweeter does it perfom better off axis than the graphs seem to depict? If the xt25 is not a suitable canidate are there any similiar canidates that can be used? Thanks for any help that can be provided.
There are two aspects to the Vifa XT25's off axis characteristics;
1. On a quantative level the off axis response falls away very rapidly and in this regard the XT25 has "poor" off axis response.
2. On a qualatative level, the off-axis response of the XT25 is very smooth and in my system at home sounds quite attractive even when off axis.
If you are really after a tweeter that allows the treble to "follow you around", the XT25 is NOT for you (the Vifa D25 does do this but I have used it in 2 projects and HATED the sound).

thank you for your response. In your opinion does the off axis response allow sufficient room for use in a kick panel install in a car mounted around 30 degrees off axis or should I look elseware for a different tweeter?

Hi madinoz
If I got it, OTOH there´s little room reflections?
What speaker are you using the XT25 in?
TIA
JC 🙂
You may want to look at the XT19. It's going to offer better off-axis performance than the XT25, and should still be able to cross fairly low with a steep filter.
The speaker I am using the XT25 in is on a posting in this forum.
Do a search for hds and xt25 and it should come up.

I am pretty surprising about this vifa xt25. I bought 4 oem pieces for polk audio LSI series and tried use in few projects. they are not anoying at high freq. and very natural, maybe too bright a little. but that the god parts end.
despite wery good parameters fs =500hz,400w long term power, flat response(I measuredmyself -inddeed responce almost good to calibrate mic!) it WILL NOT sound god x lower than 3500-3800hz and min second order(or better third) no mater how high I x-over them no mater how much networks I added they sounded very discorted and unpleasant. and they dont hold power too. feeeding with good class a amp 60w aleph 5 ,at 30w they start to rezonate. I woulkd recomend only higher than 4khz . but is you looking for powered dynamic sound look elsewhere

alright so I'm basically decieded that the xt25 won't be a good choice for my setup. Is there a tweeter that anyone really enjoys that has in this order of importance.
1. Good off axis response
2. Small footprint
3. crossover point of 3-4000 hz
4. effeciency around 88 db
5. price around 100$ for a pair, I can go higher if there is a good deal to be had, but would prefer to stay in this price range.

I have had great success with my Morel MT-1 compact dome tweeters in my car (similar to MT-2, MT-22, etc.). They have good off-axis performance and 91db efficiency. Others to consider are LPG's compact dome line or Max Fidelity 30s (basically a Dynaudio clone, available at Solen).
XT25
I have both the XT25 and XT19 (among others). I prefer the XT19. Both offer very smooth, clear and natural sound, but for $100 and a 3-4k XO, the XT19 is tough to beat. Here is a link for reference. Tweeter test 4.

BTW, the 4ohm is perfect for car application also.

while the xt19 appears to be a little more what I am looking for it still looks to have a large footprint due to the mounting structure. Maybe I"m just used to car audio specific tweeters which are mounted differently. Secondly in the review it said the xt 19 is a steal at less than $50. Where can I find them for this price? Have prices gone up? I see them at parts express for $54. This does seem to be a strong contender for my tweeter choice. Does anyone else have a tweet they would recommend over the xt 19?
Anyone have the link to madison sounds that is always talked about. I can't seem to find it anywhere. 🙁 Also would the vifa most likely be the best tweeter of choice? Lastely would it be possible to use a more efficient 8 ohm tweeter with my 4 ohm mids, or will that be more trouble than it is worth?
