UTC HS-695

I was given an old piece of "medical equipment" that was tube driven. Aside from some 6SN7's and power tubes, it also had this beast in it. I can not find any information on this type of UTC transformer. From a continuity standpoint:

Center 1A/2A are a coil.
4/3 another
2/1 another
10/8 are?

Any help is most appreciated.

Looks a little bit like a 25A63 Thordarsen-Meissner line-matching transformer -- 600 ohms in, quad 150 ohm secondaries. Mine are mid 1970's vintage.

Pins 5 / 6 look like they might have higher-voltage isolation.

Were you looking to re-purpose this gem, or understand the circuit it was in? Sure is an interesting piece.

Cheers

Would need to have inductance measurements as a starting point. Do you have a way to measure it for each winding?

Do you have more than one of these parts? Is a mono linestage of any use to you?

There's probably no practical way to guestimate how good/voltage-tolerant the (apparently better insulated winding is without a schematic or at least knowing more about the original application.

If a linestage is an aspiration, maybe ask a moderator to move this to Analog Line Level, or maybe even Parts. There are plenty of folk on this site whose depth and breadth of experience far exceeds mine -- my guess is that it just hasn't popped up before the right eyes. 😉

I'm not familiar with that unit. The review provides no useable technical information.

But that doesn't change fact that there are simply too many parameters internal to such a part (the UTC HS-695) to offer anything but a wild guess as to its suitability. Furthermore, by all outward appearances AND the rest of the review, the ZSLA-1 contains no such part.

And you still haven't said whether you have more than one. (One cannot produce stereo.)

If you do not have, and cannot borrow, the means to measure things besides continuity, I cannot help you.

I will leave 'Watch' turned on, in case someone else pops in with useful info.

Cheers

Here are some notes--I think from someone else, but probably close. I didn't check. Its a nice enough power transformer and I'm using one [with a couple of matching cylindrical UTC chokes] to provide ~330v to a phono stage with built in line stage.

HS 695

primaries are 1A to 1, 2A to 2, 110v to 1 and 2A, ~ 2.2 ohms
2ndaries 9 and 7 with 8 CT
5 and 6 are 6.3v
4 and 3 are 5v
10 is a bias tap, I think
450-0-450 don't know if that's unloaded
