Usher 8948A woofer 9930 tweeter bookshelf speakers - LOCAL PICK-UP - Nashua, NH

Usher 2-way bookshelf speakers
Partsexpress kit/design based on Usher 8945A and 9930 drivers.
These are very high end, low distortion drivers and in the league of ScanSpeak to which they often compared with.

Bought these from Joe D’Appolito himself; he said they can be used with 8948A and/or 9950 tweeter.

One grill has 1cm hole in it and one 9930 tweeter has gouge in faceplate; both are from B&C pro woofer hitting it, otherwise speakers are perfect. Wrapped in towels, nothing ever touches them.

I actually put 9950 tweeter in one of the speakers and I can't tell the difference between 9950 and 9930 after years of listening to them. I have the old 9930, it's fine.

The 8948A is more of a midrange woofer and 8945A is mostly a mid-bass woofer really. With 9930 and 8945 you really stretching the lower and upper limits of those drivers, IMHO.

$450 or best offer.

I had a pair of these back in the day! Always thought it was a nice sounding kit, I sold mine and always wanted another pair, and the improved midrange of the 8948A sounds intriguing. However, I remember the price being about $150 each new with drivers, crossovers, gloss black cabinet, and accessories. I've attached the old screenshot.

Maybe the Cherry veneered kits were a little more though? I can't remember.

Anyway, would you be willing to sell these for $250 shipped to 30144?

Thanks!

LOL nice try
For $150 (years ago) you get maybe the 1 or 2 cabinets and small parts (terminals, etc.).

Definitely would NOT get the drivers for that price.
I can sell just the woofers themselves for $250, used price.
BTW, I think Joe D. was right, these are the best made 120-130cm^2 Sd woofers I have ever come across.
Better or same as the old ScanSpeaks and maybe the new SS too.

You can check the tests performed on these woofers if you want to look around.

This is the only similar cabs I could find on parts express:

Dayton Audio TWC-0.38CH 0.38 cu. ft. 2-Way Curved Speaker Cabinet Cherry

Smaller than mine (half the volume of mine), but curved.
$240 for both cabinets, just cabinets.

So $450 or best offer, local pick up only.
I only selling at right price, definitely best 2-way speakers I have come across.

i have 4 of them and the tweeters, very different setput as I use one driver as passive radiator.

the only fault is a raise at 650-750 hz which needs to be addressed with a filter, other than that they are superb sounding (3rd order at 2000hz to 2100hz) best.

I have two other speakers set, one scanspeak and the other Harbeths, I am not in a rush to part with my Ushers yet 😉

I had a strange setup.
Definitely sounded good, especially to the right person.
Funny thing is, I had some Bose 301's in the same spot and I liked those better.
I think the Bose woofers had more bass and I don't like a lot of dome tweeters I've heard.
