Hello to everybody
I'm an italian analog new fan.
I'm looking for a new good cartridge to upgrade my Pro-ject 2.9 Wood TT with alluminium 9" tonearm.
Now the TT mount a good AT95E very cheap I think to upgrade it with somthing better as Grado gold or Goldring 1022,1042.
What do you think about?
thank you
Paolo

I think either of the Goldrings would be an excellent choice. Remarkably high performance at moderate cost - rather like your AT, but at a higher level - and upgradeable (the body takes the whole range of stylii).
Can you tell me about the Grado Prestige series?
I would like the prestige Gold,it is less expensive than goldring.
Anyone can tell me the sonic difference about this cartridge,I know the wormth and musicality of the Grado but I don't know the Goldring 1000 series I never listen it.
thank you Paolo

Hi,
IMO the Grado Prestige Blue is far better value than the Gold.
The Gold is a ridiculous price for a bush mounted diamond tip,
the Platinum still has a bush tip, for the Sonata you finally get
a nude tip.
Compare this to the price of a Audio Technica AT120E/T (has a nude tip).
🙂 /sreten.
