This thread caused me to look at Unisonic's product offerings and it appears that Unisonic will continue making the NE5534 in surface mount.

They also offer the UNE5532: https://en.unisonic.com.tw/uploadfiles/836/part_no_pdf/une5532.pdf

Interesting, took a quick look on their site. Looks like they are only offering the vanilla version, no "a" spec with better noise performance.
It doesn't quite reach the NE5534 performance. Typical datasheet figures:
4 nV/√Hz, 0.6 pA/√Hz for the NE5534 at 1 kHz
3.5 nV/√Hz, 0.4 pA/√Hz for the NE5534A at 1 kHz
5 nV/√Hz and 1 pA/√Hz for the UNE5534 at 1 kHz
The UNE's typical input bias current (which relates to the white part of the noise current) is also larger.

Looks like the UNE5534 was introduced in 2023 so they may not know what their yields are going to be to offer "A" versions and tighter specs.
On another note I just checked both Mouser and TI both of which now show the 5534 to NOT be EOL. The datasheet was updated April 7, 2024.
I've captured earlier versions which show them to have come back in this newer datasheet. DIP are available as well as SMT.

I lived in Taiwan for 3.5 years. The most advanced semi fabs in the world are in Taiwan. The Taiwanese don’t do cheap Chinese replicas.
Taiwan has dozens of small fabless companies (and some with fabs) doing niche product ranges covering analog (Unisonic is an example), mixed signal and a lot doing purely digital based on ARM cores.
DigiKey is also now showing the TI NE5534P and NE5534AP to be active again.
Back when TI was taking "Last Time Buy" orders and Mouser was showing them available for purchase DigiKey wouldn't take a LTB order.

Which one? There were several.People misread the announcement.
Now DIP is back...
I think this occurred because they are moving a lot of linear to a 300 mm process and also have changed some packaging materials.
The NE5532A is moving to 300mm, the NE5534A I'm nmot sure: https://e2e.ti.com/support/audio-group/audio/f/audio-forum/1297823/ne5532a-substitutable-op-amp-for-ne5532a-ne5534a/4928097?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=pdn%2020231024000#4928097
Odd how a search for PDN 20231024000 throws up nothing though? -
edit: no, managed to find it: https://mm.digikey.com/Volume0/opasdata/d220001/medias/docus/5752/PDN20231024000.3A.pdf,
NE5534P/DR/AP/ADR are the supposed discontinued chips, last date to order 2024-10-24, last date to ship 2025-04-25
But most of the information sources from TI are in disagreement, no clear idea which is definitive.

I think that post at e2e.ti.com was either wrong or right at the time and there was a reversal. We saw the same thing IIRC in the LME49720 and '710 years ago when the DIP version went EOL. It didn't. The PDN/PCN process seems broken and confusing.
EDIT: I just saw this post within that thread:
If you compare the datasheets in post #7 the April 7, 2024 vs the November 2, 2023 the 5534 in DIP clearly looks to have come back from the dead with Mouser and DigiKey now not showing EOL.
My hunch is they did move the 5534 to 300 mm and hadn't qualified the parts when they issued the first PDN. I'm certainly happy with the outcome and I know that SSL console owners are elated.
EDIT: I just saw this post within that thread:
Hello Mochizuki, The NE5534A is being redesigned to accommodate improved specs. It would maintain the same part number once renewed and no substitutes would be needed at this time.
Regards,
Ore.
