Unbalanced miniDSP as 2ch digital preamplifier?

Looking at the 2 way advanced crossover app it appears that you could bypass all crossover filters and simply invert the polarity of one pair of outputs, effectively giving you a 1.8Vrms balanced output per channel. Adding the 10k pot (for digital volume control) and potentially a pair of isolating transformers on the balanced outputs (bypassing coupling caps etc.) would make a (theoretically) nice digital preamp.

Daft idea or worth trying?
