Hi all,
I've got 4 ucd amps and one of them keeps going off. The blue LED goes out and I get no output. Seems to be random at the moment so I need to trouble shoot. What is the blue LED for? Over voltage, dc, etc etc.
Any help appreciated with what to look at.
Regards

Which version of UCD? The 400 series? Some are temperamental and shut down for no apparent reason. Hypex have a very good technical department if your supplier cannot help.
Their tech dept is brilliant and they were supplied direct from them as I'm in the EU. It the weekend though so they are closed atm. I wanted to try and get a head start. They have been doing it for a while but I had a problem with the source dropping a leg of the balanced line which I've fixed now. I'd originally thought it mist be something to do with that.
I have 2x 180 hg hxr and 2x 400hg hxr. Mainly one of the 400 amps but sometimes one of the 180 amp goes. What is the blue led for? Is it just an indication that the amount has been switched in rather than an error indicator?

As these amplifiers, when in a small container, tend to cook themselves but is it the amplifier or power supply at fault?
Hypex do offer an exchange service but no repair service. Even their main agent PMC is not privy to schematics etc, even for out of warranty items. Check the model of the power supplies, if they are Hypex supplies. There is an issue with specific models.

Hi Jon.
I'm pretty sure they are not being cooked as it normally happens quite quickly. The PSU is the Hypex smps 400 designed for the amps the output is a little on the high side. The data sheet for the 400 amp states that the max input voltage is 68v at which point the amp will shut down. My smps is outputting 67.8v so maybe the amp module is being a little sensitive.

The blue LED simply shows the module is 'ON'.
Your PSU rails are almost certainly too near to the limit.
How old are the modules ? Earlier ones had a much lower power supply limit.
The limit was increased to +/-75V for compatibility when the SMPS where introduced.
When you play music does the PSU output drop a little and therefore the modules stay
on ?
