Ok, I got the chance to pick up a free 36" zenith tv. Its about 15-20 years old. Cosmetically, its great. Its one of those all woodgrain consoles and would look pretty nice IMO. But, there is a problem with the picture. It shows up fine and works 100%. The only problem is theres an overlygreen hue to it. Even after adjusting the color, it still is very green. All the other colors show up, its just tinted green. Any ideas what could be the cause of this? Unless its something overly simple, I'm not going to attempt to fix it myself. I'm just curious if anyone knows what the cause may be and how much it would be to fix it. Thanks in advance 😉
If it was stored upside down, it just might need to be degaussed. A magnet, made for that purpose, is run over the screen to allow the color guns to display on the screen correctly.
Most modern tvs have it built-in. You can buy a degausser or have a repair shop do it. Not too expensive.
Possible the red color gun does not work or adjust. Try the degaussing first.

If the screen is green and this not only in some spots then it might be just like Ken said that one cathode isn´t working at all.
This you should see very clearly.
If there´s just a little (or a little more) too much of green then one of the cathodes might have a kind of privilege over the others.
You can only try to repair this with a specific thing called "Müter" (don´t know the english expression, sorry).
The cathodes are "bombed" with electrons and might be "clean" afterwards. If you´re unlucky the colors are even more strange than before. That´s very rare and then the picture tube is definitely faulty.
Probably the repair shop around the corner might have such a thing but they´re expensive. Look for a specific TV repair shop.
