What have people's experiences been with the TV-4000 (or the TV-3000 for that matter)? I'm making a projector with a 1024x768 LCD monitor, but I don't want to hook up a PC to it. If I plug in a DVD player (interlaced)into the TV-4000 and set it to 1024x768, what kind of quality can I expect? Compared to output directly from a PC? The site doesn't mention that the TV-4000 does line doubling, but since it's 1024x768, do I even need to worry about that? Sorry for the basic questions but I'm new at this! I'm looking for for high quality output while still not getting crazy on the price, and I think the $130 for the TV-4000 is reasonable.
Here is a link where the discuss a unit very similar to the TV-4000... I think it might be the same thing as the TV-4000 but just branded differently... in short, it sounds like the TV-4000 should be quite good for the average setup. A few problems mentioned with 1024x768 mode, but nothing glaring. Nothing hugely wrong with it to worry about. From what was said I gather that you can select between 60 Hz and 75 Hz refresh rates on the fly. There are also 2 settings for deinterlacing. The main complaint was that the picture in 1024 was a little "soft" but imo that should be expected since you are taking a lower resolution video stream and blowing it up to a higher resolution. In fact, after reading through this thread, I want the TV-4000 more than ever.

ok, apparently the Viewsonic VB50HRTV and the AVT TV-4000 are exactly the same product, just branded differently. At least the look precisely the same, just one is white and the other is black. However, the Viewsonice is only $100 vs $130 for the TV-4000. I think the only possibility of difference might be that the TV-4000 uses a slightly different internal chip to do the scaling, but there would be no way to know that unless someone takes a TV-4000 apart.
