turntable project

hi guys,

can anyone give me some information on building a turntable? I am looking to make the base of the turntable myself on my cnc router. I am looking for information on motors, bearings, tone arms etc.

I would appreciate any help.

There is a turntable kit manufacturer based out of England. Do a search on turntable kits and they will show up. That may be what you're looking for.

I have had a look on the web under turntable kit manufacturers but have found nothing of any real help. I think a starting point would be to find a suitable motor, I can make the housing for it. I need to find out how to control the speed also.

Any more suggestions that maybe of help.

I would probably be looking more at them buy I happened to find a Technics SL1100 in very very good condition. The only problem was a scratched cover and I bent the stylus shank...my mistake.

It sounded really nice even with the unique tone arm.

Thanks sprags. I've had a look at the site, pretty impressive. What do you think of their motor package? Can you recommend any other ones? What does magnetic bearings mean? Cheers

I was considering one of those but found Technics Sl1100 in very good condition.
