Does anyone know where to get reasonably high quality octal tube sockets for a Harmon Kardon Citation II? The standard ones that measure 1.125" across the socket and 1.5" across the screw holes are slightly too large.
By reasonably high quality, something akin to the ceramic silver plated ones from Japan that sell for about $7.50.
Thanks.

Jim McShane has everything you could want for your Citation.

These are not "over the top audiophile" sockets, but just good quality sockets that fit perfectly and work well. IMO, there are many, many other things you can do to a Citation that will give more in return than audiophile sockets - star grounding is one of them.
BTW - The stock Citation octals are not very reliable; replacement ASAP is wise.
Good luck,

Thank you both. I've seen McShane's site and may get them from him. For what it's worth, I don't really have a Citation any more. A friend designed a completely new circuit for it that I've been using for several years. The only thing "Citation" about it now are the transformers and chassis.
Right now I'm just replacing sockets I replaced several years ago. I did so in my preamp and the results were quite surprising. In that unit (with octal tubes) I used the silver plated ceramics from Angela.
Speaking of that, I was surprised to read McShane's comments about Micanol sockets being less likely to transmit microphonics than ceramics. Is that the common feeling on this subject? Though for the records, I don't use 12BH7s, but 12AX7s and 12Au7s in the driver circuit.

Jim McShane is as honest as the day is long. If he says micanol is less microphonic, it's less microphonic! When you stop and think, it makes sense. Ceramic is hard and inflexible, while micanol is a composition that could absorb some vibration.
