Tube Socket Mounting - rigid or floating

I recently scrapped some old reel to reel tape recorders for parts and found some of the tube sockets were mounted suspended in a floating (vibration resistant?) setup.

Wondering why this was done and does it make sense in the tube amps us geeks are putting together today ?

A 300B power tube in a floating socket ?

Reduces microphonics of course😉

I'm planning to suspend my preamplifierboard as well.. It has also been done in delicate measuring equipment..

I wouldn't use any other method for stage gear, but for home audio, it's a matter of taste, IMO.
