I finished assembly of the TU-8500 and here is what I have:
Visually, nothing seems to be wrong with the soldering.
Any ideas about where I should focus?
I have built TU-8200 and Amp Camp Amps (x2) with no issues, so have a little experience.
- LED does not light (tests okay with coin battery)
- no audio output
- tubes DO glow
- I replaced C11, C12, C15 and C16 with Mundorf supreme.

I fixed it myself somehow. Here's what I did in case this is helpful to anyone in the future:
All is good now. I have sound and light.
- I went point by point around the board and resoldered anything that looked the slightest bit suspicious.
- I desoldered the LED, cleaned the contacts with alcohol and resoldered it.
- I melted a thin layer of solder on the contacts that connect Unit-4 with Unit 1.
All is good now. I have sound and light.
