Trying to find a forum for Driver Repair

There are some driver repair threads but they are scattered over a number of subforums. I've tried browsing those subforums and those postings are so rare, browsing isn't practical.

Being a total noob, dare I say this site, which looks like the 800# gorilla for DIY audio to me, should add such a subforum? - or are there other forums out there that are more attuned to driver repair (although I have not found any.)

Apologies,
Tom

The issue isn't number of threads, it would be nice to have them in one place that was browsable - like reading the newspaper - you become aware of stuff you never knew existed and learn more about the things you are familiar with.

Your examples are exactly what I'm talking about: "compression driver machining" is something I've never heard of that I'd like to know more about now.

FYI, I do tweeter voice coil lead breakage repair under stereo microscopy. If you drag a screwdriver across the finest motherboard traces, I can repair those.

Machining meaning building them from metal ingots, not something one does at home as a rule.

My own personal opinion is I like to keep forum sections to a minimum, otherwise topic creep results in a hundred tiny sub-topics.

I would say that people that are "compression driver machining" are doing that at home in their own small machine shops - which I also have. (Keep in mind that people have home wood shops to build boxes so a metal shop is not a stretch - especially if also an automotive hobyist.)

But where should "driver repair/modification" post?

Each subforum has topics that are appropriate but there is no mention anywhere on the page regarding: reconing, refoaming, surround replacement, voice coil repair, driver repair, etc.

EDIT: Looks like DIYaudio and AudioKarma are the 800# gorillas! AK has a single DIY subforum with over 21k threads so yes, driver repair is there but totally burried in the "noise."

So it looks like DIYaudio HAS to be the place.

IF you added keyword "Driver Repair" to a SubForum, that might be greatly effective although a "Driver Repair" subforum really isn't another sub-set or creep since Driver Repair doesn't really fit in existing subs.

If you have a question or need, please ask over in the multiway forum. You might get several good answers or links to threads that can help you.

There are no new subforums planned for the moment.

Great, use Multi-Way for driver repair - any chance of adding "driver repair" to the keywords to let others know this is the place?

NOTE: Maybe all driver topics should be there too? maybe "driver repair, construction, modification"?

Thanks for the clarification
Tom
