Tricking the infocus lp240

Hi everyone this is my first post and yes i have taken days of looking thru forums for info on tricking the infocus lp240 into thinking that the globe is in when it is not.
I waded thru about a 1000 of pages on the internet but could not find anything about the lp240.
I found 3 optocouplers in this projector and found a data sheet for these.
They are the SFH6106 optocoupler.
Any help would be appreciated.
I want to fit an mh 150Watt globe in this pj with a seperate ballast.

i did this w/ my projector (Sony VPL-S500U). i too could not find the info i needed. i took it apart, and on the PCB there were labels next to the connectors of the wires that connect the ballast to the main board (sorry if that doesn't make sense?!). i did some measuring with my multimeter, and thought about it for a while. i ended up switching two wires and it worked! it more than likely can be done w/ yours also. if you could post some pics w/ the cover off, maybe i can help. there are two other options also:

1. search the 'net for a "service manual" for your unit. in these there are wiring diagrams.

2. find some place that services projectors in your area, and for the right price maybe they will "sell" you the service manual you need. they have access to the manufacturer's technical stuff.

let me know if i can be of further assistance!

I am buying the same exact projector, Can you tell me exactly what you did to get it working? Do you have any pics? and wats the max resolution?

it may just be because i have an old old projector...
but would it be possible to trick the projector by taking out the fuse for the light itself?

in my ctx 500 projector there are 2 fuses

one for the lcd and one for the light itself

when i take out the fuse for the light, the lcd stays on

i duno if that helps

Rashad1,

sorry, been busy! if you still need info or pics, let me know. i have a fair amount of info on this projector.

at a throw of 11', it will project a 6' wide picture easily. you can adjust the picture size, but the bigger the pic, the more "screen door".

like i said, i'm happy with it! if i can keep the light cool, i can get a good couple of years out of it. should have the second version of the light done today...

does anyone know how much UV light metal halide puts out? compared to a similar sized halogen bulb?

Bad Badboy 🙁 bought a nec mtg pj and that one works great.
Sold the lp240.
Got a motorised screen Targa Draper 170 cm wide for Au $85
so i am happy and the picture is great.
Now i need to know how to replace the 250 Watt Mh bulb in the nec.
But it still has 1700 hours to go lol.
