Does anyone have any experience with this smallish router:

I would bite the bullet and fork out the extra couple of bucks for the Milwaukee 5615-24 also on Amazon.
The trends is compact and quite powerful but it is built to a price, it doesn't handle heavy cuts. The plunge base doesn't clamp tight enough to the collar of the machine nor is it particulary easy to set accurate depth of cut. Mine was a major disappointment and taken back after one weeks use killed it.
My Milwaukee is one of the best value routers I have.
The Milwaukee is easier to use and is a great buy at that price, I had to import mine at twice the amazon price and it's still a bargain.

You know I might just do that. I had a 5615 with a without plunge and liked it but I wanted to get a plunge for building speakers. I had hoped I could get away with a smaller one for the detail work like trimming veneer and such.
I know the Milwaukee is a good deal. Locally, there is a good deal on a Porter Cable with a few more features (used like new) for $150 and the retail on it is a lot more. Aside from it having variable speed I am not sure if it is better. My other choice is the Triton with what looks to be a nice depth adjustment.

Go for the Porter Cable or the Milwaukee. I had a Triton 2000 bench for a while it was great I did a lot of cabinets with it and sold it after it had been well used. The Triton tools aren't in the same league as the workbench, the router is ok but not in the league of PC or Milwaukee.
Variable speed is great if you are going to use shaping bits, likewise cutting veneer faced boards. A solid carbide single flute and veneer tape usually results in stress free cuts.
