I have what may seem quite a simple question. I have purchased a Chinese pre amp module from ebay. It uses 2 x 6N11 tubes and the ad said to use 110VAC supply (HT supply?), no current specification, so I assume mains voltage, as I have 240VAC in the UK, this is out of the question, which brings me around to asking what rating transformer should be used?
I have ordered a 60VA/110VAC toroidal transformer for the purpose, but it appears to have 130VAC unloaded, is this a major issue and what current draw is likely for these tubes? Info is sparse for this module, so I thought I'd ask some experienced valve users. 🙂
A 6VAC 30VA heater supply is recommended BTW, so a 2 x 6V 60VA traffo could be used to implement a small diy DAC as well.

I would not considerit a major issue since my line voltage typically runs 125-128V. 130VAC is not unusual in the USA any more.
I presume you have ordered a 240VAC to 110VAC(130VAC) and plan on running it to step the voltage down.
There are two ways you can run it, (1) in line as a step down to power the unit, (2) as a line bucking transformer.
Either way should be fine. Just be sure to connect your earth to the chassis as well.
It sounds like you are ordering a seperate filament transformer. Is this correct?
Please post a link to the module on ebay so I'm sure I understand.

The board looks like this, although mine was sold as being 110VAC supply.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
To be honest, with the good weather, the project has taken a back seat to a whole bucket load of house diy jobs.
One day I'll finish a project. 🙂
