TPA3116D2 and NE5532 Pre amp

Hi everyone!!

I am trying to use the TPA3116d2 and NE5532 Preamp in the car.

However I just found that the NE5532 is running on 12V AC and not DC so is there any way to use this in the car as in car we have only DC Voltage.

Also I have connected a small MH 32 Bluetooth to the audio input on TPA and when I turn on the amp in the car it gives lot of noise.

Is there any way to eliminate that weird noise from the TPA on Bluetooth in the car.

TIA

In theory it is possible to convert 12Vdc from your car into +/-12V for the pre-amplifier. The only problem is that it will cost as much as buying another pre-amplifier for single 12Vdc.

Thanks for the info..

Would it be much better if I get a

12V DC to 220V converter

and then connect a centre tapped transformer

to get the 12AC .

Is such type of thing safe to use in a car..

I am getting so frustrated now the last TPA3116 blew up and that one was having built in BT and had amazing sound.

I bought these two which were cheaper than the old ones but the sound clarity is not there so bought this preamp and now it is having this 12V AC mess.. 😭😭

Something like what phase proposes.
The solution with an 12Vdc->220Vac and then down in voltage is a logical solution but would not my choice. It would be more expensive, more bulky and I can imagine the 12Vdc->220Vac inverter to generate some noise.

The Imgur picture seems to be an ordinary boost/step-up converter that has a single voltage as output. I cannot see that as a solution.

attention, that's a bad amp!

hi digitaled,
seems you have the same amp as i bought some time ago.
my amp has several severe flaws:
coils heat up even when idle, coils seem to have wrong value (40 uH), idle current is far to high (around 300 mA), coupling caps make huge popping noise when turned on, cascaded pots are noisy and create severe channel differences...
so i would not invest money in trying to get this amp right with an extra preamp and power supply, but rather buy a better amp straight away!

Very true the pop noise is too much loud

I am amazed that there is so much of diff between these two amps using the same TPA3116 chip

The blue one has such amazing sound in terms of clarity and I was hoping to get the same sound from this red one also but I was wrong.. 😭😭

Just wanted to give an update as I tried connecting this Preamp to a centre tapped transformer at home and plugged in the preamp to BT and the sound after adjusting levels from preamp is much better now.

I finally heard that clarity and vocals from TPA and am bit happy now..

Now the next problem is to give the AC power to preamp.

I found this video where we can use UPS in Car as inverter. Since I have APC UPS lying useless was thinking to try that .

Is this safe to use such UPS in car and any sort of precaution I need to be aware of.

The video link is here
