Hi, Ive recently acquired,
A jb systems amplifier that i think puts out 550 a side at 4ohms
2 x jb systems 12 inch 200 watt tops 8ohms
2 x 15 inch 250 watts jb systems bottoms 8ohms
and a jb systems mixing desk
Now....I need to know how to connect the speakers together and then to the amp to get the best from them, im stuck, im only a novice when it comes to setting up as in the band im in we play decent venues with full rig etc, this is for my solo pub gig set up and im not sure how to correctly connect the tops and bottoms to the amp.........
Also i have 2 x peavey pro 12 250 watts rms at 4 ohms speakers, and
a mcgregor 650 watts a side at 4ohms power amp
Id like to sell ONE amp and ONE set of speakers but id like to know which set up is the best and how to rig it up due to the 4 ohms peaveys and the 8 ohms jb speakers.........Im a little confused as to what to do for the best here....help! lol

You should have an electronic crossover to split the frequencies so the bass goes to the subs and everything else to the tops. Try local music stores; they may have something used. I assume there's lots surplus thanks to the Behringer DCX-2496, unless they're just left in the rack for backup.
what about if the amp has a built in crossover and multiple frequencies like certain watts run at 4ohms and certain watts run at 8ohms????
thanks for the response by the way! Richie

Hey RIchie;
Being in Canada I have no idea about JB other than I checked this site;
JB Systems Loudspeaker Cabinets from Terralec
and these seem to be the standard run of the mill , straight from China or taiwan manufactured speakers. Meant to look like Cerwin Vega's
I'd say the likelyhood is that the peavey 12" (2ways) are more likely to be more efficient , but without model numbers Im not sure.
The amps I think your talking about are usually aftermarket built in's that have seperate woofer and tweeter output's . Unless its something else, once again I need data. The big issue there will be does it have enough power and does it have a variable crossover frequency that will allow to power and filter the subs properly.
Any 2 way electronic crossover with 2 amps really is the way to go.
Cheers....FFT dude
