I stumbled on the Shaper Origin, an amazing looking CNC tool for wood, acrylic, soft metals, etc. that might be of interest to any and all DIY makers.
It is portable, and does away with the alternative of gantry based routers that fill up an entire shop. A clever location tape allows the tool to always know where it is, and a cutting head that makes precise adjustments to the user's hand motion yields extremely accurate cutting.
