Too good to be ture?

I have an old Pioneer PL-30 TT with a broken belt. I tried on a whim to use a large rubberband insted. It seems to work, I dont know though because Im not sure if the strobe light is working, or infact if the light on the side is a strobe light. Is there anything that seems imediatly wrong with using a rubberband.

It will wear out the motor bushings if tension is too high.

You can get a belt from MCM or Parts express for much less. MatElectronics might have the correct size also, but its a bit harder to tell from their largely specificationless catalogue. But boy are they inexpensive!

Thanks, I dont really know what size I need though. I guess I could use a string and measure it but I dont really know. Thanks for the info.

Rubber Bands

They work but they wear our real fast. OK for an emergency. Measure with a string and buy a belt about 10% smaller.
