hm......i am far from an expert on the lighting stuff, but what i can understand from the text, they say that the projector will be a 3,500 ANSI lumens. I think that was the original ANSI lumen of the OH projector and that they didn't think of that the LCD screen will reduce much of the light.

Please correct me if i'm wrong because i'm not so god when it comes to the Lumen talk

Nice pictures, but most DIYers these days are using MH bulbs that cost just a bit more and last 15000 or 20000 hours, instead of OHP bulbs that last 40-50 hours. I noticed he was very lucky selecting his LCD panel: He did not need an FFC to extend the connections to the PCBs.

The comment about his claim of 3500 lumens is correct: That would be the OHP brightness with a mostly-clear transparency. LCD panels absorb >80% of the light, so he was really getting less than 700 lumens on the screen. Nice picture though!

The article is well-written and the pictures are excellant. It would have been very nice if the author actually knew more about the topic!
