Hey everyone, new to this not new to the site. Looking to find some info on tweaking tony gee's crossover for his proteus speaker design. since the seas CB17RCY/P-H0571 is no longer available, I went with the same tweeter seas T25CF001-E0006 and the er18rnx. The problem I am having is getting the levels right between the tweeter and two mid woofers. I am using the 2.5 way schematic and when listening to the individual drivers separately they sound good, no noticeable distortion or cone break up. but when all 3 drivers are connected the mid range and tweeter seem to take over and over power the sound. I realize it is not going to go low in the bass department, hoping to get in the 45ish range.
What I am figuring is i need to reduce the level of the mid range and tweeter to balance it with the .5 lower mid woofer. So my question is how would you go about balancing the drivers,? is it as simple as a change in resistors ? or am I going to have to completely redo the crossover ?
I have changed the resistor to the tweeter (R1) to 2.2 ohm and added a 1.2 in series with the tweeter and toned down that part. I am confused on what to do next. Please any help would be appreciated.

I see some problems in what you are trying to do. The FR of the two drivers are quite different in the (probably) crossover region, the ER18 doesn't roll off until the breakup. The ER18 is also less efficient. I suspect that the crossover won't work as intended with the new drivers, and there isn't enough info on the site on how the crossover is supposed to work (crossover point, transfer function), so even if you have measurement equipment, it would be rather difficult to emulate the Proteus, in fact this would be a new project.
IMHO, I think that padding down the tweeter is not enough, you probably have to modify the response of the mid woofer. The only way I see for doing this is to simulate first the design with the intended drivers, and then with the new drivers and then to modify the crossover until you return to something similar to the first simulation. I figured the efficiency of the speaker would be lower than the proteus, but thought there might be quick fix on modifying the series crossover for the mid and tweeter, to work for these drivers. I guess next step is to start from scratch on the crossover.
