Has anyone got one of these and played? I understand TI bought the older Equibit technology from Tact. Could this get me into low power Millennium territory?
Thanks all

According to the German Mag Stereoply there will soon be a new amp available by Tact that is using this chip.

Hi,
seems this is reality allready. They have upgraded Millenium with TAS5015 modulator and at the same time acquired exclusive rights to this chip. Here is quote from Tact homepage:
More can be found at Tact homepage. I wonder if exclusive use use of TAS5015 will have any impact on John`s project (if he is not the brain behind this one)?

seems this is reality allready. They have upgraded Millenium with TAS5015 modulator and at the same time acquired exclusive rights to this chip. Here is quote from Tact homepage:
Features of the Tact Millennium MkIII upgrade
Hardware:
• Highest quality Equibit modulator TAS5015, exclusively used by TacT with factory optimised internal timing towards the Millennium Hardware
• Clocking of the PWM modulator is running in master mode at extended sampling frequency which insures optimised performance in the audio band.
• Ultra low phase noise / low jitter clock system extends Dynamic range and gives extremely low jitter.
• All digital signals on the PCB are noise optimized regarding transmission line load to reduce interference to clock systems.
• Built-in Audio DSP’s for Equalizers, crossovers, delays etc.
• New Digital transceiver supporting 192kHz/24 bits single wire interface.
• New Asynchronous Sample Rate Converter with internal conversion rate always clear of 1:1 conversion problems.
• Optimized low jitter clock system.
• PC interface for programming, control and upgrades.
• High-end Balanced analog DAC line out for active system setup
Performance :
• THD+N level -113dB A-weighted both channels driven at -60dB@1kHz
• THD+N level -106dB linear both channels driven at -60dB@1kHz
• THD+N < 0.01% @1kHz 10W in 8 Ohms (<0.02% from 1-150W)
• Dynamic range 113dB digital plus 26 dB PSU variation - totals 139 dB
• DAC line out Dynamic range 116dB A-weighted
• DAC line out SN+THD ratio -105dB @ FS -1dB Output Both channels driven @ 1kHz
• DAC linearity 20-20kHz +/-0.02dB
• ASRC THD+N -140dB (20Hz-Fs/2) Dynamic range 144 dB
More can be found at Tact homepage. I wonder if exclusive use use of TAS5015 will have any impact on John`s project (if he is not the brain behind this one)?

And the part is listed as "Not recommended for new design" by TI but still available for order. Perhaps TacT means that they use it in an exclusive way rather than exclusively as a manufacturer?
Hi,
when I last checked TI website some weeks ago, TAS5015 disappeared in a similar manner as DIR1703 receiver, it was nowhere to be seen. While TAS5015 returned, it seems like DIR1703 never existed.

I'm working on a design based around the TAS5518 at the moment (just two channels, not the full eight) but the whole thing isn't exactly DIY friendly and I'm having a bit of a time trying to produce a PCB that I can make by hand for the chip (I wish I could do PTH). But it will hopefuly turn out well, and I'll make sure to post up here when it's done.

The funny thing is that DIR1703 is very much available as sample!
