I'm trying to use a infocus projector to throw an image onto the surface of a pool, nothing fancy just still pictures. Its an infinity pool so the surface should be flat.
Anyone heard or tried something like this? Any help would be great.
Thanks
Henrik

that is very cool.
could you float small particles on the surface, or would that gum up the pipes?
maybe "hang" a few hundred lengths of fishing line from the upstream side of the pool, at the surface? forming a partial screen across the surface of the pool, they might refract some image up, while staying relatively invisible (and even allowing someone to dive in). It would have to float though eh... and a lot of work...
anyways, sounds cool.

Trippy concept
Hey man, how old are you? Are you old enough to have gotten any of that good 60s acid?
I've thought of finding some footage of a flying saucer from an old movie and trying to beam it onto the cloudcover when it's really low. I don't think that my or any projector that any of us could afford would be able to do so. I guess you can guess from this silly idea what my answer would be.
Anyway that would be very cool if you could do it. Maybe project onto the bottom of the pool and the surface?
I have seen a few pool cover that seem to float just beneath the surface, like a mm. Staying there buy surface tension?
Good luck and if you can do it post some pictures.

get a clear shower curtain, seen someone use it for reprojection tv, make a PVC frame for it, Make sure you pull it tight enough that it doesnt sag, if you Glue the pipe, it should float with no issues. then just ancor at each end of the pool to keep it where you want it. good luck, post pictures
Water, as, is, is too good a reflector, it acts just like a mirror. You have to diffuse the light hitting it to get a result. Tried it a few years ago for an exhibiton stand for Marconi. You can get it to work, after a fashion, by using a dry ice fogger to put a mist over the surface, but it's still not 100% as you have to be looking down on the pool.
However, you can get a good result with a "Water Screen", (do a google search), very ethereal and atmospheric, but not cheap.
