I just got a thorens 125 and completely new to these so i wanna check that these things are normal or not big issues...
1) The base where the platter sits is whobbly and springy..is this normal?
2)The tonearm crackles a bit when i move it around..not a big issue for me but is this a big problem?
3) There is a long cable inside the tonearm that connects to the cartridge. I'm usually used to just taking the head off with no issue but i cant with this table cuz of the wire. Also the headshell doesn't grab on to the tonearm that well..kinda wobbly

The TD125 is a suspended subchassis type turntable. The platter and arm board are mounted directly to the subchassis which is suspended via springs from the motor board. It should float freely and the platter should be perfectly level with a typical record on the platter.
Your description of the noises your arm makes causes me to believe that the bearings may be dirty/damaged. The headshell on the stock Thorens arm is removable so it sounds like you do not have the Thorens TP-25 tone arm. (Unless you didn't figure out how to remove it.) You may have a B version of the table with a non Thorens arm which often was something quite good like the SME3009 (various incarnations) as well Grace, etc.
These TT are anywhere from 37 - 42 years old depending on whether you have the older MKI (68 - 71) or MKII (71 - 73) and should have all of the electrolytics in the motor control pcb replaced if this has not be done already.

I have a 1968 vintage TD125 MKI with an SME3009 Series II arm and Grado Reference Platinum cartridge. It's quite good and I would probably have to spend over $1000 to significantly better it.
