I've searched through pages about aluminium nitride plates, but couldn't find someone who actually used them (we know the numbers).
There are some vendors on aliexpress and the 0.6mm ones could be promising, at least if it is AlN as stated. Anyone used AlN pads sourced from Aliexpress?
To me this seem to be the best solution performance and robustness wise (with a high performing grease, of course)

I looked into them but was concerned about them cracking, which is why branded/reputable vendors only sell much thicker ones. But then you start to lose the low thermal resistance advantage.
Yes, indeed. Can't recall where, but someone reported that 0.6mm is ok, he didn't manage to break any, and at this thickness it might perform better than the "standard".
Even if it cracks, i guess not much contact surface is lost. Anyway, care should be taken while tightening - i guess many of us put to much torque - and this is important no matter the thermal interface.
In my opinion there are many advantges for ceramics (AlN seems to be one of the best). Beyond the good thermal conductivity, there are some other characteristics that makes them attarctive.
Better aging (no aging?), no risk for electrical short at some point.
Still curious for real life reports, or you'll (me) have to try by yourself 🙂

A thread related... So, if 2mm thick Al2O3 performs as good as Keratherm (from DIYAudio store - thin pink pad), a 0.6mm AlN should be much better:

Hi guy's ,
I bought some TO-247 Aluminium nitride pads , 0.6 mm thick there : https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/4001015012526.html
as soon as I get them I will make some live test and let you know 😉
