HI ALL LOOKING FOR SOME OPPINIONS AS AM LEARNING ON THE JOB SO HERE GOES.
LAST YEAR AFTER MANY YEARS RAVING THE WEEKEND AWAY AT THE SOUTHPORT WEEKENDER AND HAVING A PRETTY WIMPY SOUND SYSTEM(AKA IPOD AND DOCKING STATION) I DECIDED I WAS GOING TO COME BIGGER AND BETTER THIS YEAR, SO WITH NO SPEAKER BUILDING EXPERIANCE AND JUST THIS BRILLIANT WEBSITE TOGUIDE ME I SET AMONGST BUILDING SOUTH PORT SOUND VERSION1.0, TO INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING,
1 X PHONIC POWER POD740 AMP
1 X 3 WAY SPEAKER TO INCLUDE 10" SUB, 5"MID & PIEZO HORN MY FIRST BUILD
1 X 2 WAY SPEAKER TO INCLUDE 12" CITRONIC DRIVER AND A COMPRESSION TWEETER (2ND BUILD AND HAVE TO SAY BEETER SOUNDING OF THE TWO BUILDS)
1 X JBL 12" BASS BIN I BROUGHT OF EBAY BUT IS A CAR SPEAKER SO A LITTLE UNSURE,
THESE WILL OBVIOUSLY BE HOOKED UP TO MY PIONEER CDJ 1000 AND VESTAX MIXER WHICH I USE AT HOME.
SO WHAT I AM ASKING IS FROM PEOPLE WHO PROBOBALY HAVE LIGHT YEARS EXPERIANCE OVER ME WHAT DO YOU THINK? SOUTH PORT STARTS 11TH OF MAY SO NOT MUCH TIME BUT AM HAPPY TO TAKE ON ANY IDEAS IF THERE ARE SOME .
I STRUCK IT UP TODAY FOR THE FIRST TIME AND IT SOUNDS OK TO ME.
MANY THANKS

Hey W513mfs , hows it going.
First stay away from Piezo's they just sound bad ...
I've tried every kind of trick in the book to make piezo's behave and its always way more hassle than its worth. Anyone using Piezo's well sorry but the first thing you do is to stick a 120 ohm to 300 ohm resistor in series , this helps dampen the piezo effect which produces back EMF frrom all the sound pressure coming from other drivers. Next puzzle coat the tiny little paper cone they use attached to that lovely crystal .
Anyway the Phonic amp is a nice start.
Im not sure why you would have 2 different speakers for mid highs , but its going to eventually drive you nuts trying to match stereo sound on 2 different speakers.
The Car Sub is probably low efficiency , so it'll eat up your power .
Better of to find a single pro 18" somewhere .
The 12" 2 way cab is easier to control and sound good , stick with that if your dealing with budget issues.
Cheers

cheers fft dude i agree piezo is not the way forward am thinking about swapping it out for another compression, also i cheers for advise about the submight leave that behind, as for trying to match your wright the two way seems way louder than the 3 way, but many thanks for advise.
For next summer, build a tapped horn or some other horn subwoofer. Very high efficiency, so you may get away with a fairly small driver, maybe even an 8". Or if you're highly motivated and don't have anything else to do, build one right now using that car sub.
Or build a band-pass box; that would be more compact than a horn, but they have a limited frequency range. The narrower the range, the more efficient. Tune it to suit an 808 kickdrum and it may be impressively loud, even if there's no ground-shuddering low bass.
