Actually i prefer 2-way speakers, like large lf drivers and large boxes.
But there is something very special with fr drivers, larger ones that can deliver real lf to are sparse, i havent heard any since Coral Beta 10 and Beta 8, these are unobtaiable today.
Stumbled on this tiny one when working on the quite large Experience Live cinema speaker project.

So, what to do whit this one then?
Test it to find out how it sings.
Quick and dirty, glue it to one end of a large russian toiletpaper core.
Sound below a normal A awfull or nonexisting, but above that, really astonishing.
What do we do then?
Rear loaded horn? Why not!
Maybe like this?

Is your unit the 3FE20, it does looks more like it? The link points to the 3FE22.
I was looking at the former as a second driver to try in a small BLH I just made for Fostex FF85WK. Let us know if you build that back horn.

Yes, the 3FE20 , now replaced by 3FE22, basket shape only difference.
If i build? Allright.
Did, friday morning, quick build in mdf just to check it out.

Then bring it home and hook up, right?
Letting them rest here until i know how to use them.
Haven´t had that much time for listening yet but the first impression is pure fun,
this little driver plays music in a very unstrained and realistic way.

After just a couple of hours listening i wanted to check if my ears and wishfull thinking was deceiving me.
In front of driver, 20cm distance, some hundred hours still needed to break in the drivers.

You cant´t use a 10cm tall speaker as a floor stander, no not if You, like me, are stupid,
It´s not 10cm tall, it´s 10cm wide.

Perfect, it even points it upward towards your ears 🙂
Ingvar, do you like the SD feet under your OY speakers? Would you recommend I get them too?

Yes Niklas, i think absorbing feet is good for the Oy speakers, i´ll send You a set.
Woah, that's very kind of you!
Having listened to the Hildinghorns during weekend i find them extremely fun
and lifelike, tremendous slam and attack in midbass.
Very nice top, feel no need for an aditional hf unit.
Think i must try the extension of this project too.
8 drivers in line, slightly longer hornpath.

Looks like an interesting project. If it works out well, why not build a version with 16 drivers? 😉
cool, and still enough 'room' to make it bigger 😀
I would be very careful(more) with the throat and smoothen it
no doubt exstremely important for the midrange quality
load chamber looks small ?
whats the calculated low end cut off ? 200hz ?

Yes, the throat will have the edges routed round, and the walls that make up
the rear wall of chamber tilted slightly backwards.
F3 should be just below 100Hz, not much reason to try to force them lower as
they will need subsuport.

Cone area is ~235cm2.
The load chamber must be a bit larger, 6,2L, but i don´t want to shorten hornpath, qw resonance now is 95Hz, (90cm path), so i´ll have to widen the entire horn slightly to make room for a wider chamber.
This was just a quick sketch to show the idea.

Nice build! The response is pretty good IMO, comlete with BBC-dip!
I have wondered before about such "coaxial mouth" horns, rather envisioning it as a square box with peripheral mouth, your way is probably easier and just as good.
I'd like to try something for the 4FE30 sometime.

Redrawn a bit to accomodate for larger chamber.
Will tweak a bit more but won´t start build untill the first single driver units
are broken in and measured a bit more.
Qw resonance now ~94Hz, so loading driver below fs and chamber fb.

hey, there is very simple way to make the load chamber bigger
namely by using the space you havent used
and even more if you make the 'box' squared
would probably leave enough space to place small sub drivers on the back
or on the sides, if you prefer that
a lot of wasted space you could make use of 😀
but a lot of wood and might get a bit heavy

Brilliant idea! I often thought if a wedge horn like this would sound any good.
I may just have to try it with some 3" tangbands I have laying around.
It looks easy enough for even a caveman like me to build in an afternoon!😀
