It happens to me all the time.
Sometimes I wake up in the morning and it’s just playing for one reason or another…in my head.
There could be a million reasons I suppose. I could have heard it anywhere.
Sometimes I know where I heard it…sometimes I can’t figure it out for the life of me.
Sometimes it’s a song I love…other times not.
This morning it was “I’m gonna sit right down and write myself a letter”.
I quickly realized a version of it was playing in the background from the Eiji Kitamura Hit Kit Party while I was tinkering away at my workbench on my Iron Pumpkin project yesterday afternoon.
Funny that it was instrumental and so kind of just snuck in there without me paying much attention.
It actually made me want to hear the song and so I went searching for one of my favorite renditions which is by Madeleine Peyroux in her Dreamland album.
What’s bouncing around your head today?

Right now? Tori Amos “General Joy”.
With me the music is 24/7/365. It’s just a matter of what is playing ATM. Even while sleeping. Any dream I remember includes the music, it’s still in mid-song upon waking, and years ago my wife noted the constant (annoying) drumming any time I’m out - sleeping, napping, or otherwise. I first noticed this when I was 13, and it has never stopped since.

Yes, I would say music is probably playing in some way, shape or form for the majority of my waking hours.
I find it very difficult to recall dreams, let alone a dream that might relate to music.
Usually, it has to be a dream about something very shocking or that I wake in the middle of.
I have to talk to someone about it immediately if I want to share it, otherwise I tend to forget a lot of the details.
So are you actually tapping to the rhythm of the music while you sleep?!

Yes. It annoyed the hell out of my wife till she simply got used to it and could sleep through it.
The dreams may or may not relate to music. But I’m still aware that music is still playing, regardless of what I’m doing because it will still be playing as I wake. The same song may continue to play for a while or quickly switch to something else. I woke with Tori this AM, and it stayed till maybe an hour ago when she was replaced by BTO. There is often no rhyme or reason as to WHAT plays.
One dream that is recurring in some manner is setting up a big sound rig, aligning it, and going through sound checks. But always waking before the band(s) take the stage. Must have something to do with unfinished business.

Always something playing in my head. Lately, “Queen of the Highway” by The Doors is getting a lot of head time. Every note, every instrument and of course Jim. That guy could sing.
Same for me. I'll wake up with a song playing in my head. I'll sometimes search youtube and play it while I'm making coffee. It happens to me all the time.

For some reason the ancient hymn "Onward Christian Soldiers" was playing non-stop in my head. Imminent senility?
This afternoon “Let It Be” started bouncing around in there and kept on playing through lunch.
No idea where that came from…haven’t heard it or played it in who knows how long.
Maybe I felt as if I needed to let go of something 🤷♂️

Some years ago, for no particular reason, I could sing Thorn on my side by the Eurythmics all day long.
Is that the B-side to Thorn In My Side? 😉
This week I've been building garden beds out the front of my house from treated pine sleepers and kept forgetting things, so walked back and forth to the shed in the back yard too many times and started thinking of Walking on the Moon by The Police for some reason. It calmed down my self annoyance...

I wonder if there is one song that has come back and visited me more than any other…I’ll have to think about it.
This morning while getting ready to face the day I suddenly started mentally humming the melody to Amy Winehouse’ “Our Day Will Come”

I'm old, but I have to say that I've always had problems to remember the songs' titles, even in my '20s.
Ha ha ha, you have nothing on me! I'm actually terrible at remembering song titles and even band names sometimes!
I hear you…I think now it’s easier because it takes seconds to search it, but it wasn’t like that for a good portion of our lives.
Hell, I used to make up words to songs playing on the radio when I was a kid on a regular basis. Who could understand what Mick Jagger was singing half the time?…add drug induced lyrics to the mix…good luck!
Nowadays, it’s more laziness. I love listening to chamber music on a daily basis in the morning especially Mozart.
Sorry, I’m not going to look up and memorize all the information regarding all the compositions. I’ll just keep humming along…sometimes ignorance is bliss.

The permanently-stuck song regarding political events is “Won’t Get Fooled Again”. I don’t care who wants to rule the world these days, none of them fool me anymore. Every other October the song comes on with a vengence, right up through Election Day. I could sing it for a month straight.
There is always the Sirius XM channels on Dish, when I get sick of political ads and about Medicare advantage plans. And lately when I’m tired of hearing from Christina Across America. I kind of wanted to watch the MASH Re-runs this morning, but got sick of HER every 5 minutes. So now Aerosmith is on in the other room.
